First Commonwealth is a growing credit union serving the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania. They hired Design Made to develop a new member experience, branch design, and member financial literacy program.

Design Made developed an exciting new financial center experience for FCFCU with an innovative new financial literacy program at the heart of the new experience.

The final design looks more like a retail store meets modern college library than a retail bank with a range of unique new features. Features include full-height walls, clad in rotary cut maple poplar wood with pickling, and an integrated metal grid display structure, lighting, and coffee bar. The wood acts as a physical separation between the front and back of the financial center with large glass panels and custom glass and wood-framed concealed doors. The wall divides an after-hour space where FCFCU holds weekly, and sometimes daily, events on matters of money.

The new design is minimal, placing a high emphasis on the craftsmanship of the new casework, and includes wood and metal work, plastics and laminate, acoustical paneling, wall graphics, and traditional office casework.

 Boyce worked closely with the Designer and First Commonwealth to ensure a modular program that is repeatable, easily customizable for adjustments per location, and meets their conservative budgets.

 After successfully completing several branches, FCFCU expanded the scope of work of Boyce to include exterior signage, mentioning our continual commitments of high quality products, delivered and installed on-time, within budget, and what we are most proud of is the ease and pleasure of working with us.
